When I was in 7th grade my teacher was impressed by my creative and functional approach to completing projects and she called me resourceful. Once I learned it meant something like imaginative, inventive, clever and ingenious, I was quite flattered and to this day strive to live up to that description. These skills especially shine when marketing property for home sellers or negotiating to get the best price for my clients.

MY FIRST JOB TAUGHT ME LESSONS I PRACTICE IN THE COLUMBUS REAL ESTATE MARKET TODAY

I can remember my first job. I grew up as the oldest child in a family of 7, with little money to spare, so I knew if I wanted anything in life, I would have to work hard for it. I think I had to be 13 years old before I could get my first paper route and on my birthday, I called the Columbus Dispatch to apply for mine. I understood the concept of getting paid to do a good job and went out of the way to deliver the newspapers to each front door or on the mailbox hooks rather than just throwing them down the driveway. The salary wasn’t much, but it was the tips that made it worthwhile. People really appreciated the extra service I provided and rewarded me greatly for it. I have learned that it’s the extra little details that make a difference between getting a job done versus doing a great job and really being successful.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM PETRA

Born in West Germany, we moved to America when I was a baby and I have lived in Central Ohio for over 39 years now. I still have a lot of family in Germany that I enjoy visiting, however, my immediate family are here in Central Ohio. The German people are a very industrious, fun loving people, who take a sincere pride in everything they do. These are some of the qualities that I bring to you. During my visits to Germany I also enjoy visiting castles throughout Europe; my favorite is Neuschwanstein. Each castle is special and tells a story of the families that once lived there. Just like your home is your castle, a special place where memories are made.

You’re probably wondering why the “castle” theme for a Columbus real estate website…well as you can tell my name is not all that common. I have learned that most people can’t pronounce my name correctly, let alone remember it (Petra - pronounced “Pay-tra”). So some friends helped me come up with this catchy name that’s much easier to remember. I thought it was fun and it fits because really “Your Home is Your Castle” no matter what the price range. I really hope you enjoy my website and find it to be the best source for all your Columbus Ohio Real Estate needs!

My first priority is spending time with my husband of 13+ years, Kurt and my son Isaac, who was born on July 4, 2001. Some of my clients end up meeting Isaac along the way, because he does enjoy helping his Mommy.

A CENTRAL OHIO REAL ESTATE SUCCESS STORY

I’ll never forget one of my first clients, Carolyn and Inez Jones. Inez was moving here from Michigan to live with her daughter and I worked hard to find them a condo large enough for the two of them and their individual furnishings, while keeping within their budget. I worked with them while I was pregnant with Isaac. Inez would talk to little Isaac along the way and would share stories about motherhood too. We finally found the perfect Westerville condo in Little Turtle Golf Course Community and planned to close on July 5. Well Isaac decided to come a little early on July 4. So after my water broke around 7:00 am on July 4, I still had to fax some last minute documents to the Title Company and make a few phone calls to solidify the closing, before going to the hospital.
